Pure Primal Skin Care

In a nutshell – Pure Primal was born after my bouts with Colon, Skin and Liver Cancer. I decided against conventional intervention, cashed in all I had and got myself to Texas USA, where I started my journey to health, education in holistic nutrition and natural skincare.

I stumbled across, and then fell in love with, a golden liquid, Bioidentical to that of what the human skin craves. Yes, this star ingredient is our sustainable & certified Free Range tallow. Naturally filled with the biologically identical nutrients our human skin cells need to heal itself and promote longevity, backed by scientific studies.

My team and myself are passionate about trying to educate South Africans on TRUE natural skin care. Pure Primal artisan products are handcrafted in small batches, from traceable local ingredients in it’s most pure, raw and natural form. Our love for animals shines through all we do..

We ONLY support farmers that raise their animals as nature intended.. 100% Grass Fed, Free Range, NO routine antibiotics or hormones and being humanely culled.

– We use local, sustainable, raw ingredients and packaging where we can. We are currently 90% plastic-free, and aim to be entirely free from plastic. Not only because of the damaging health effects of the xeno-estrogens and chemicals found in plastic, but also because the environment suffers hugely in this day and age in the plastic warfare. So yes – our packaging is heavy and fragile. It’s glass. Its pure. It’s good for man and the environment. We say: “Say NO to plastic!” We also have a “no frills” policy where we use donated newspapers and re-use boxes for packaging where we can.

Breathe in… Breathe out… Lying in the bath, watching my heartbeat create ripples around my sick body. 23 December 2009. Thirty three years old.

I have just received my liver cancer diagnosis with an extra helping of skin and bowel cancer.
The growth was invasive and there were no laparoscopy equipment available, so I underwent open abdominal surgery where I received my “branding mark” from the large L-shaped incision. With my motto in life – “There is always light at the end of a dark, long tunnel” – I saw this L-shaped scar as my “Learners” sign. I learned to ask why, how and when. I was fired up mentally but physically I was still sick and weak.

I packed my bags and flew to Bison and Longhorn country, Texas. I met an amazing Doctor in Fort Worth, broadened my knowledge base in the Natraceutical and Natural healing arena and took the proverbial “Wholelistical” plunge – wholeheartedly.

I realised not only does my body need bioavailable nutrition, but so does my skin, as at least 60% of all the 400-600 toxins in common skincare items are absorbed into my bloodstream daily! From soap, to make-up, body lotions, perfumes, washing powders and more.
Biologically the skin craves certain elements to return to homeostasis, the state of balance and harmony. I made a study of this, as well as what our forefathers used for skincare. A whole new world opened where ancient traditions collided with modern research. Following a primal lifestyle and diet, and finding myself in Bison country, I tried my hand at the Voortrekker/Pioneer skin care recipes. It was love at first feel and my thirsty skin soaked up all of the goodness as if it was just a natural part of it.

I was astounded to see the magical harmony between our skin and the beautiful, creamy, golden whipped Certified Free Range (FR) and Grass Fed (GF) rendered animal fat, or tallow.
As we are not plants, but more similar to a pastured animal, the skin anatomy is biologically so closely related that our skin sees GF, FR tallow as its own – with the same fat soluble Vitamin and Mineral profile your skin naturally produces and craves in order to heal and promote longevity.

Tried and tested over hundreds of years and perfectly packaged by Mother Nature,

I immediately started creating tallow concoctions, testing them on myself and my loved ones as I went along.
I treasured every minute spent in the kitchen again, knowing I was on the path to healing. HAPPY DAYS!

Being able to give something back in this way is such a privilege, as I have been truly blessed in all walks of life – especially in my Pure Primal journey. Tierlantynkies took a chance on Pure Primal, for which we are grateful and humbled by. It’s been a true blessing to walk by your side and proudly represent Pure Primal at one of South Africa’s finest platforms offered to local artisan crafters. DANKIE!

In spite of the economical climate in SA, we have grown from strength to strength in a very short period of time. Once people try the product they are hooked. The proof is in the product and the results our clients get. I thrive on feedback from my customers and absolutely value any criticism as an edifying process in becoming better and better at what we do.

A uniquely first in reviving our forefather’s traditions. Boerseep. Vetkerse. Seepstene. Kruiesalf. Lekker man!

I Love what I do and I do what I love!

It ain’t over till the FAT lady sings, and she’s in no rush.
